Oil-dispersible Sodium Hyaluronate is a paste or semi-solid derivative created by encapsulating ultra-low molecular weight sodium hyaluronate (≤10 kDa) via a specialized microsphere encapsulation process and uniformly dispersing it in plant oils. It overcomes the limitation of conventional hyaluronic acid—being water-soluble but not oil-soluble—and is specifically engineered for oil-based or anhydrous color cosmetics.

Oil dispersible Hyaluronic Acid

Appearance: White to ivory-white paste or semi-solid, with a smooth, non-sticky texture.

Typical formulation (by weight):

Sodium hyaluronate: 27%–33% (ultra-low molecular weight, ≤10 kDa, some formulations contain compound molecular weights);

Oil phase carrier: 67%–73% (mainly meadowfoam seed oil, but castor oil, squalane, etc. can also be used); No additional emulsifiers/preservatives, mild and stable.

Microstructure: HA is suspended in the oil phase as 1–5 μm microspheres, with an outer lipophilic layer and an inner hydrophilic layer. Upon skin contact, it rapidly ruptures to release HA.

Oil-phase compatibility: Directly soluble in mineral oil, plant oil, synthetic esters, and wax-based products, suitable for anhydrous formulations (lipsticks, pressed powders, cushion foundations).

Ultra-low molecular weight penetration: HA with a molecular weight ≤10 kDa easily penetrates the stratum corneum, deeply hydrating and improving dryness and roughness.

Dual moisturizing mechanism:

Oil phase: Meadowfoam seed oil forms a water-locking film on the surface, reducing transepidermal water loss;

Aqueous phase: After release, HA microspheres bind 1000 times their own weight in water, achieving "oil-locking water, water-nourishing skin".
